Adult Leaders

Pack Leader | Peter Kruger

Peter brings a lifetime of scouting experience to Pack 240, having started as a kindergarten Cub Scout and earned his Eagle Scout in 1998. He held leadership positions from his first den to senior patrol leader and spent eight summers on staff at Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch, ultimately serving as Camp Director and teaching at National Camp School. Scouting runs deep in his family - his father was a scoutmaster, and both his dad and brother are Eagle Scouts. After taking a break from scouting, Peter returned when his oldest son joined Pack 240, and now has three boys in the pack. Though new to pack leadership, his decades of experience and passion for the program make him the perfect guide to make scouting fun, simple, and easy for Wheat Ridge area families.

Asst. Pack Leader | Dan Carraher

Dan started his scouting journey as a Tiger Cub and earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 98 in New Hampshire. During his time as a scout he spent 7 years working at a cub scout summer camp as a Den Chief, Dining Hall Suart, and for the final four years as a BSA certified Lifeguard. He is married with two children who are both scouts, his daughter recently earning the Arrow of Light and crossing over into Scouts. Dan enjoys spending time with his family, an avid hiker who has hiked all of Colororados' 58 14,000' peaks, enjoys camping and outdoor experiences with his family and friends. He excited to be a leader for Pack 240 to share his skills and knowledge to help scouts grow, learn, and have fun.

Asst. Pack Leader | Amanda Kruger

Amanda brings fresh energy to Pack 240 as a therapist with extensive experience helping kids grow and thrive. She's incredibly creative and crafty, always designing fun projects with her own three boys. Amanda is excited to bring that hands-on creativity to pack programming, developing engaging activities that make scouting memorable for every family.

Our Story

Pack 240 has been making scouting fun, simple, and easy for Wheat Ridge families for over 65 years! Originally chartered in 1957 by the Wheat Ridge Kiwanis Club, what began as a small group of local children has grown into a thriving program that welcomes boys and girls from all backgrounds and walks of life. Our pack has always believed that scouting should be for everyone – whether your family is new to the area, facing economic challenges, has children with special needs, or comes from military, immigrant, or blended family backgrounds. This commitment to diversity gives our scouts real-world experience in making friends, being helpful to others, and doing their very best no matter the outcome.

Through fun adventures and exciting outdoor activities, Pack 240 focuses on developing character, citizenship, leadership, and personal fitness in every scout - and we make it fun, simple, and easy for every family. We work closely with our partner Troop 240, creating a seamless pathway from Cub Scouts through Scouts BSA, so your child can continue their scouting journey right here in Wheat Ridge. Our goal is to provide ready-made opportunities for your family to do fun things together, with no complicated planning required on your part. For over six decades, we've proven that scouting doesn't have to be overwhelming - it just needs to be awesome!
